I prefer latex. Leaks are more rare and they cost less to replace. OTOH, they are considerably more fragile and will need replacing more often... and some people are allergic to latex.

Leave your suit on the tank overnight again, and perhaps try a larger diameter tank (like an 8" tank vs. 7.25"). No hard and fast rule where too tight ends and too loose begins, other than you don't want it so loose it leaks, but you don't want it so tight you're restricting your carotid artery. At some point it has to be a judgment call of what works for you. Someone at your LDS with more drysuit experience may be able to feel how snug it is and offer advice, however.
