Wow..that's unusual for Princess..
I have found that they back up their excursions quite well. On our last cruise, my dad did a deep sea fishing excursion and they refunded his money no questioned asked after he complained about the excursion. I also got fully refunded when we had weather related issues that messed up our diving schedule with their excursions.
Usually these dive ops depend upon their cruise ship business and don't want to mess it up.
