I carry a Columbia River folder with that same locking devise everyday.
However, I'd never use it for diving. You have too much to do underwater already, especially if you find yourself actually needing to use a knife. Much better to pull a fixed blade from a sheath. Otherwise, you'd have to get the blade open (with gloves on), use it and then (again with gloves on) fold it back up and stow it.
