Freediving fins are long, skinny, and flexible and are designed to propel a diver without a lot of drag. (no scuba gear). Since they are longer they are intended for "going straight" and not turning much.
dive fins are shorter, thicker and stiffer. They are made to push a diver wearing scuba gear that has 'drag' on it and also shorter to allow better turning, etc....
