Right. If a Ford SUV was capable of 88mpg on flex fuel alone, they wouldn't need a plug...it would be the most popular vehicle right out the door.

Personally, I don't think plug-in vehicles really change anything. You're now burdened with having to plug it in if you want the benefits of fuel economy. Electricity still costs money to produce. Electrical companies use gas to produce it. It's still a vicious cycle.
I'd have to do some math, but I do believe once you do the conversions, it equates to 70 cents per equivalent "gallon", but then again, I'm not quite sure how that conversion works, and who's math is used...

For instance, Tesla claims 1 cent per mile, for electrical charges... even a good mpg car like the Prius costs $4/gallon, 60 mpg, $1 for 15 miles, or 7 cents per mile... But, you're right, it's still a vicious cycle... one of these days, someone is going to find something that just stomps everything we now even think about, and fix all of this... one of these days...
