Right there with you on the marathon Onstar. I am on the east coast, so i got to see the key events live, but NBC had a choice to do the same all over the country. So I would have seen Phelps at 10:59, on the west coast, 7:59. Not everyone has the internet. They didn't do that for marketing reasons. That is what I am really getting at, this should be more about the athletes and less about the sponsors. The sponsors would get plenty out of these games even if their role was not as influential.

Heck, even the gold medals cost only around 200-300 dollars in materials (they are plated over silver). You'd think NBC could have coughed up the difference to make them solid. I don't think they have been solid in a long time.

Still, Phelps amazes me. Shouldn't be possible to do what he did, especially given how many swims there were in a short period of time.
