Basically I use it for signalling, the bigger the target the better. It reflcts light 360 degrees if I place it over my head (and keeps the sun off of me). It takes up no space. In my nighthawk BCD on the shoulders there is a little space between the webbing and the shoulder pad that forms a small pocket. I have the space blanket in there and can't tell that it's there. And a mirror in the one on the other side.
I was thinking about doing something like that, but figured an airborne rescuer might confuse a diver for a piece of garbage if they covered themselves with a space blanket.
