When you get a new reel or spool, it is always a good idea to unspool the line to make sure that the end of the line is actually connected to the reel/spool. Nothing worse than holding an empty reel in your hand with no line attached to it.
One time I decided to unspool my spool in my garage to inspect it and let the line dry, and maybe tie off some knots. I ran the line around my car, tied it off at the side view mirrors and then ran it around my wife's car, around my work bench, back around the car, etc, intending to reel it up in an hour or so.
Only problem was that I forgot to take it all down, so when my wife was leaving for week, she found a giant spider-web of line blocking her entrance to the car. LOL. She thought I was playing some cruel joke on her.
