Another thing to look at is the mask itself. I have the same problem. I started diving with an extremely low volume mask and never had a problem. However, in the early 80s when I stepped away from my tiny little flat mask to one of the cool ones with windows in the sides, my nosed always ended up feeling like I had been in a bar brawl by the end of the dive. Even the newer ones that claim to be low volume but have BIG lenses still gave me the pain.
I had tried everything from a loose strap to changing the strap position to moving the mask a little closer to the edge of my lip (flooded bad on that one!). Nothing helped.
Then I found a tiny mask again and it is gone! I have since theorized that it was the size of the air bubble in the mask pulling upwards that was causing the mask to pull on my nose taint and leave me in pain.
Just a thought!
