Search/Rescue

Anyone ever do any rescue/recovery dives?

Its been about a week since a 12 year old boy was reported missing here in upstate NY…

Local News: Police Narrow Search for Jaliek Rainwalker | rainwalker, search, pond - cbs6albany.com a

The Police used cadaver dogs to track the boy-three different times they ended up at a pond on a golf course. Before they drained the pond divers were sent to look for the boy. The other day at work some of the people that know I am a diver asked, hypothetically, if I would want to go look for the boy? Please keep in mind I don’t have any training for search and rescue yet and would never dive out of my skill level. My answer was yes much to the surprise of my co workers-If I thought the dive was in my ability I would go.
Honestly a big part of me was against the idea of a cold, low vis dive in a stagnant pond looking for a body I most likely would have an image of stuck with me for a long time. When I thought of his family and what they were going through...the dive would be difficult but necessary.

Has anyone ever had to deal with this sort of situation?
