Not to steal this thread but I would like to know how to embed a photo into a thread and have it come up NOT a thumbnail. I read something about hosting it somewhere else, but not sure what to do.

Using any photo software, just size it to about 600 wide.. that should make the file size small enough. Then post it in the photo gallery (link above). Then go to it and if you right click, you will see the properties. Copy the location, then when posting, click on the little picture Icon and when it asks for the image location... paste that in... and you're done!

If you already have a photo loaded on a online photo site (like FLICKR, Photo Bucket, ect...) click on the photo and copy the http: info and go to the thread on the ST forum you wish to embed the photo in and (Just like Lary said above) click on the icon that looks like a postcard and paste your (HTML) http: info and BAM.. there it is. You will not see the pic until you post or hit preview though......

The other way to past the image is to use the [img] tag [ /img]
Like the [code ] [quote ] tags ect. example, say I know some image is on http://some_site.com I would just use [img ]http://some_site.com/some_image.jpg[/ img] (you just need to make sure there are no spaces in the tags - there are spaces in my tag example above so that they can be shown and the forum does not try to use it )

If you are just wanting to re-size to drop the size from a digital camera pic, the easiest program I have found is windows image resizer - very simple, download, install and then right click on the image(s) that you want to resize - saves them to the same location with same name with an added (small), (medium), or (large) in the file name. Then you can upload to your hosting place of choice.
here is the link Image resizer |
