Updated Info About This Site!!

I've been posting a few notes throughout the board, but figured I better pick a central location for information about the site, and what is going on here. Kind of Larry's Blog on the board.

I must say, I could not be happier with the great group of folks we have out here posting. Great info, a lot of fun, and nice folks.

That is going to be our goal and theme even as this board grows. When someone asks a question, it is great to see people responding with their opinions. I really don't ever want to see the posts "Go use the search function! It's been asked before!"

This is a place where I don't want rude, know-it-all, insulting individuals. Heck if I just wanted to talk to someone like that, I'd call Joe! [img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

If you see posts that don't fit the theme and feeling of this board, please use the report function and let us know what is going on. We can't read them all so we'll depend on our members to help.

The New Stuff!

Now to what is happening. We just got our new server installed, and are working on getting all the necessary software loaded. In the next few days, as soon as the testing is finished, we will be migrating to the newest version of the vBulletin software. This gives us a lot of additional features that we don't have now... like polls, more complete profile information, a whole photo section with easy upload capability, groups, and much more.

The bad news - when we make this cross over, the page will probably be down for an hour or so, and I'll be tweaking the look and feel of the new format for the next few days after the migration. And a bit more bad news - it appears that passwords will have to be reassigned. If you have put in your email, you should be able to simply do a retrieve password function and set a new one, or else email me at larry@scubatoys.com and I'll get you set up.

And our members will probably have to reload their avatars...

Sorry about that! Looks like no way around it!

Hopefully, you guys will put up with this inconvenience for the added features we will have.

It should pull all the pms and posts with it, so none of that should be lost.

After everything is up and running, we have a database of about 40,000 divers we are going to invite to join our forum, so we are expecting a flood of new folks out here.

I want to thank our charter members here that have made this such a great place, and I'm sure I can depend on you guys to make the new folks welcome!

Not yet Later in the week when I'm done converting it.
Once converted, you'll see a new forum. You old password will not work.
So You'll have to do the forgot password thing, use the email that you registerd with and it will send you the instructions on how to get logged onto the new forums

Heck, I don't recall-- I've been asleep since then-
I'm sure you have an email somewhere on here in your profile.

If you go into your settings (icon near the top right of the page) in there you will see a link that says registration details. Click on that and you can put in your email address.

Well, I was working at my paintball place last night, had a big church group with 45 kids playing paintball, and Tommy came over and we talked and worked on the new forum, grabbed something to eat, then I got home. Had to work on a few other things he told me about, answer a few PM's, and I guess it was a bit late.

Now my wife is out of town, so I'm done feeding horses by 8, just got the shower out of the way, and now I get to go to work! I've found sleep is really over rated. I just keep a tank of Nitrox in the back seat of my car and hit the extra O2 on my drive (hour each way) to and from work!

meh... this is my least fav. board style...
i like these forums alot... but now it just looks like one of my least fav. forums which is populated with trolls and little annoying kids...
at least these arent like that. we have educaded people on here.
