the LED light is great because it is easy on batteries, puts out a very "white" color but the beam is as narrow as a laser. Latly I've been using my big and dumb UK D8. It's heavy but with 8 d-cells has enough power and the batteries last a long time because they are D not C cells. D-cells don't cost any more then c-cells both are about a buck each. My UK D8 makes a nice wide beam that is as bright as the LED but covers more area. Some day I'll buy an HID canister light. Some of my dive buddies have these and when you compare any of my lights with an HID canister light the difference is huge |

First of all, I picked UK over PT for the regulated power circuit feature.
I was torn between getting the eLED or the HID at the time choosing a light pack, and I got the eLED at the end. Reasons are: they're way more durable, LED bulbs are indestructible and uses minimal power; money replacing an HID bulb can easily get you another light! LEDs can also be used on land without melting anything. There's no comparison of LED vs Xenon bulbs too, LED is whiter, has longer battery time and again an ever lasting bulb. |

I own an HID Light Cannon and really love it. I've had it almost four years and have traveled with it all over the world. However it doesn't travel well. It works fine when I pack it but due to rough baggage handling it almost always takes some tweaking to get it to work when I arrive. I'd carry it on but I'm already carry on so much stuff I don't have the room for it so it goes in the checked bag. I wrap it up in my wetsuit but the TSA guys usually don't repack things the way you pack them. Kinda sucks but at least they haven't lost or stolen anything yet. When this thing finally does break I'm going LED so if you are getting a light I'd suggest you go LED. Back when I got my light LED technology was no where near what it is now.
