Need to know more about it. Is it designed as a dive knife? If not, the metals it is made of might be prone to corrosion. Pics?

CRKT: The AUS-8 steel would do fine, especially for fresh water. Saltwater would require more maintenance. The handle is really thin though, and the thin liner lock would be less than ideal.
Kabar Warthog: If you are talking about the fixed blade, the 1095 steel rusts very easily. Coat the blade with Vaseline and it will be fine. If you are talking about the folder, it uses a low grade stainless, which would probably be similar to AUS-8 and be fine. The liner lock would not be ideal though. If you can swing it, spend $20 on a fixed blade dive knife. |

thanks det! The CRKT i actually own, the warthog i wanted to get. The CRKT also comes with a locking switch that makes it into a fixed blade by physically preventing the lock bar from moving into an open position, which is why i got the knife in the first place.
I will take your word for it and buy a dive knife later ![]() Columbia River CRKT M16-13M Military Combo Edge Knife that is the link for the knife.

I carry a Columbia River folder with that same locking devise everyday.
However, I'd never use it for diving. You have too much to do underwater already, especially if you find yourself actually needing to use a knife. Much better to pull a fixed blade from a sheath. Otherwise, you'd have to get the blade open (with gloves on), use it and then (again with gloves on) fold it back up and stow it. |
