PDA or pocketPC diving?
I was curious, how many members dive using a pocket PC or Palm device? Also, what cases do you use, because i am very interested in getting one. I have an Otterbox 1900 already for my Dell Axim x50v, but that's good for about 3ft. I hope to dive a bit deeper than that!

I have a pocket PC integrated into my phone, or a phone integrated into my picket pc, depending on how you want to look at it. Anyway, I would be interested in a dive logging program that I could fill out on my phone and sync to my pc at a later point. I've searched for something like this on google to no avail. Anyone else know if something like this exists?
Edited for spelling. |

I used to keep my dive log on my pocket pc/phone and transfer it to my computer when I got home. That went away when I got a dive computer.
However, diving WITH one is completly different. I can think of NO reason why I would want to take a $600+ phone/palm diving with me? Diving is a great way to get AWAY from it ![]() EDIT: reactive, what pocket PC do you have? I have the UT StarCom 6700 which used Windows Mobile. It has excel spreadsheet, (which is what I use to log my dives) and can be transfered to a desktop, or vice versa. If you dont liek Excel, here are a couple programs for pocket PCs: Dive Assistant - Pocket PC Edition 2005 / free download Diving Log for Pocket PC - Logbook software for scuba divers. Download SharkPoint for PocketPC, the scuba dive log 1.5.1.05 Free Trial - SharkPoint for PocketPC, the scuba dive log

I have a Treo 700p (Palm OS... Windows Mobile is the devil).
I run AquaDiveLog on it, and my Uwatec computer beams data directly to it over IR. It syncs to my desktop software at home every time I sync the phone/palm. LOVE the combination. It's good to be able to enter misc notes and details directly into my dive log between dives, while sitting in the galley or car. Then I can flesh out the entries at home, later... if I want. And meanwhile, I always have my entire dive log on my person at all times... but if I ever lost my phone, all the data would flow right back in just by syncing the new phone to my computer. My Treo doesn't dive with me, however. It stays in the boat or car, usually in my waterproof mask case (tupperware sorta box). For Windows Mobile, Uwatec offers TravelTrak CE, but I've never used it so cannot offer any advice on it. All of this software is free, btw, and works for any Uwatec Smart series computer, or manually if you have a different one. I believe AquaDiveLog can import from Suunto somehow also, but I've never done that so no promises. Last edited by CompuDude : 04-02-2008 at 07:12 PM. |

I didnt like sharkpoint as much as I like Divelog 4.0 Diving Log 4.0 - Scuba Log, Dive Log, Divelog - Logbook software for scuba diving - Logbuch Software zum Tauchen
I thought that DL 4.0 was easier to use and had a better lay out. |

I don't see any reason to take it underwater with you. What purpose can it serve underwater? It's not a dive computer. You can upload your dive computer info to it after the dives are done.
