Apollo Bio Filter

I have only 6 dives and I feel my mouth too dry. I thought I could buy an Apollo Bio Filter with my equipment, but isn't it going to introduce a critical point of failure in my main reg line?
What are your thoughts? Maybe I should just get used to that...

All metal second stage like Mares Abyss might cure that, though I have never had the problem.

Apollo generally makes really high quality & sturdy stuff, I've never heard of one failing but I haven't asked either...

Well, the question is whether it'll introduce a failure point... plain and simple, yes it will.

Will it fail? I have no clue, have never used one, and have never even seen one in person.

If introducing a possible failure point into your system is of concern for you, there are other options for drymouth...

First, hydrate hydrate hydrate. If you wear a drysuit, install a p-valve. If you wear a wetsuit, join the ranks of us who readily exclaim "we pee in our wetsuits!!"

Second, can also carry fresh water with you in a camel-back type of rig and have a sip while you dive. This is especially popular with divers who do long dives such as extended cave or technical dives. One example of a hydration bladder is here: https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=55

Third, how hard are you working underwater? Mastering buoyancy and especially trim can greatly decrease the effort you use while diving and will dramatically increase your comfort... you may find your dry-mouth is somewhat helped by generally being more comfortable.

That's my 2psi.

It should concern anyone, shouldn't it?
Does all metal 2nd stage helps at all (2% humidity)?
I have only 9 dives, so I don't master anything. Maybe the effort under water is really the problem..

I suspect not being well enough hydrated is the problem. Try drinking a liter of water a half hour before you dive, and see if you still have a dry mouth.

everthing is a potential failure point. Diving is a potential failure point.
That said, the bio filter and Appollo both have great reps for quality....really great.
I bought a bio filter, but before I installed it I did 10 days of intense diving and found that my earlier dry mouth issues had kind of disappeared with time. I did learn to hydrate better, I am getting more comfortable in the water...and I do have a new atomic regulator. Perhaps my disappearing dry mouth is due to the combination. Either way - I still have great confidence in my purchase of the bio-filter and will likely install it before the next trip.
To each their own.

JP, all metal 2nd stages are supposed to help... But also, hydrating well will also help. Have a bottle of water ready when you dive. Drink some just before you enter, and right after. In between, well I just got used to it!

If you're a coffee drinker, try eliminating the morning coffee from the dive day. That alone got rid of my dry mouth. I still drink plenty of water though.
