I sharpen mine on the same wetstone that I use for kitchen knives. Most dive knife blades have a high chromium content and do not hold a good edge (unlike high carbon steel). I usually go for a blunter edge, as opposed by the fine edge that I put on kitchen/carving knives.

Some people do coat their dive knife with a light coat of silicone (the same kind as used on o-rings) to prevent rust. I don't think this helps. but if yours hs this just wipe it off. |

This is what I use to sharpen all my knives. Works great! (I have a SS dive knife)

I prefer stones, I have various grits I use depending on the knifes condition.
I sharpen any knife I have so that I could shave with it if needed. Comes from deer hunting when I wanted a knife that I could actually do work with. I'd suggest learning how to do it the old way with stones because it's cheap and creates a very sharp edge. The disclaimer is that not all knives are created equal and depending on steel you can not make it super sharp. Not for long anyhow.
