I also agree, the UK Remora is all the knife you are ever likely to need.

It really depends what you want it for, for line cutting/entaglement etc I find shears, or a line cutter works best, still carry a small BC knife all the time though. When diving in places where they have an overabundance ( plague? ) of sea urchins like parts of the coast south and north of Sydney I carry a large 6" Knife on my inner calf to cull a few sea urchins and feed the local fish

My dive knife actually gets used topside more often than under water, usually when I fix lunch. As dive knives are primarily intended for cutting through entanglements, a small, unobtrusive knife is more than sufficient and will likely be of greater utility and see more use than a giant sea sword, which many people find to be awkward and uncomfortable. Thus, pick up something like this --> Deep See Squeeze Lock. I strongly recommend the titanium version. It's beta alloy, so it will hold an edge well.

The DIR guys carry something similar to this knife I've got three similar knives. It's not as sexy as a Sea Hunt (Mike Nelson) knife, but it cuts entanglements.

Did someone say SEA HUNT? Actually I bought this to add to my vintage collection. I'm sure I'll dive it someday. Mike Nelson never left the dock without it.
![]() Seriously though, I carry a wenoka squeeze knife with a 3" blade.
