A 1$ cylume glow stick will do the job if you just need it for the class. Otherwise, you might find a Glo-Toob a better investment, as you can use it as a tank marker, signal strobe, reading light, or distress signal.

I second that, I've used mine for so many things from backpacking trips to reading maps on the road, plus the kids really like diving for it at night in the pool.
