I put a Wekona squeeze knife on my Oceanic Excursion BCD attached to the grommets on the left side where there is no pocket.

I have since bought a pocket and placed it on the left side using these grommets so I had to move the knife. I tried several places and am now trying it on the right side upper chest strap to keep it away from the drysuit inflator and other stuff on the BCD. Still not happy with this location so I I am still looking. I do have a pair of shears in the left side pocket along with my dive table and spare light.

Another option might be to attach it to the pocket grommets on the right side but I don't want it to get in the way of the right hand roll up pocket. Guess that will be my next trial site.

Knife placement

I quit wearing mine. I wore it on my left outside calf; but, I looked too sexy with it. I have enough women problems now and don't need anymore. Besides, the only thing I ever used it for was cutting up oranges and killing the occasional shark.

Funny. That is where I wore mine back in the day. (also where I stored my snorkel. Behind the straps.)

A butt load of old timers still do, and they ain't dead yet. Richie Kohler, Jersey wreck diver (not DIR by the way), wears 2 on the left and right thighs. Back in the late 70's I actually had pockets installed on my wetsuits to receive thigh mounted knives.

I recently added a big honkin pig stigger on the right waist strap of my BC. For ballast and if I want to use a 7ft hose again.

But also, I am a firm believer in rule #9. I have carried a knife most of my life on dry land and use it most every day.

Feels good having a real tool at hand instead of the silly broken steak knives many advocate. Sure, the Betty Crocker thing will work for cutting cave line, but rule # 9.....

A fiend who wore it on the BC once punctured the BC while putting it back.

Don't have to worry about that with a back inflate .

Working on getting a knife in the next month or so, thinking about the Wenoka, and putting it on power inflator hose.

Vlane:
The Stiletto offers a much better mounting optioi than the hose for the wenoka knife. If your cumberbun has 2 extra grommets, that is the place to mount the knife.

If you do mount it to a hose, make sure you backup the mounting hardware supplied with the knife.

Here is the "rule" if you want to call it that that I have been taught and agree with wholeheartedly.

A cutting tool, especially if you are only carrying one, should be easily accessible with either hand and placed in the area from the waist to the shoulder. Not the leg, ankle or thigh.

I dive low vis, with some confinement and entanglement issues often and so I am always trying to hedge my bets whenever possible. This rule may be overkill for most divers but it is always best to start with good habits.

That's what I learned too.

Once I get it I'll play around with it a bit to find the best spot. I looked today on my Stiletto and noticed it didn't have a lot of grommets on it. I only saw a few on the pockets so I'll have to look at it again. Thanks for the heads up on that though.
