Great deal on an automatic dive watch
Just ran across this deal on a Magico automatic dive watch: Amazon.com: Magico Men's Carbon Fiber Automatic Watch with Watch Winder #20001-11: Magico: Watches
![]() Brand Name: Magico Model number: MAGICO-20001-11/W Part Number: MAGICO-20001-11/W Dial window material type: Mineral Clasp: deployment-clasp Case material: stainless-steel Case diameter: 46 millimeters Case Thickness: 14 millimeters Band material: stainless-steel Band length: mens Band width: 24 millimeters Dial color: black Bezel material: stainless-steel Bezel Function: unidirectional Calendar: Date Movement: Automatic Water resistant depth: 660 Feet Warranty Type: Manufacturer I have one of these, and it is a nice sized watch that I wore for my pool sessions for my OW cert... Price is $55 with free shipping for the watch plus winder! It has a Citizen Miyota automatic movement - which is known to be very reliable... and the carbon fiber face looks INCREDIBLE in person. Some pics of mine: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow...that's a good looking watch! And it looks like now it is only $47. I think I may have to pick one up. How does it compare to the invicta? Unfortunately I think for now I'll have to be a one watch man. The other one I am looking at is an Invicta...

Well... it is thicker and beefier.
Miyota japanese movement in it, which is a very reliable movement - and unlike the Seiko movements can be wound by hand. The carbon fiber on the dial is awesome, a lot of depth to it. If you want a good invicta deal check out ShopNBC.com in the next week - they are having a huge Invicta event. If you look at the program guide you can see what is going to be for sale... the prices may drop as it gets closer to air time.

Good price, especially considering it includes a winder, which I figure has to be worth $25 even for the cheapest winder, leaving a net price of $23 or so for an automatic dive watch? That's pretty killer.
That's one thick case, though. (There's a side shot of this watch in another Magico listing on Amazon, oddly) Personally, I think I'd blow the extra $25 on the Invicta, even wtihout the winder, given the styling and brand reputation... although if someone prefers the styling of the Magico, that's cool, too. |

If you are looking at that size Invicta diver, I would suggest this one: Amazon.com: Invicta Men's Pro Diver Collection Coin-Edge Automatic Watch #8926C: Invicta: Watches because it has the coin edged bezel which makes it easier to turn with wet hands, and makes it an almost exact copy of a Rolex Submariner - if you are into that sort of thing ![]()

IMO if you own automatic watches it would be worth the $47 just to get another winder, and have a watch that you can give as a gift if you don't like it! The case is slightly thicker than Invicta (Sieko movement invictas that we discussed in other threads) at 14.3mm, the Invicta is 13.3mm and the Orange Monster is 13mm also (as measured with my digital calipers just now). The Magico has a much beefier look to it and (IMO) a much nicer looking bracelet. Very underrated watch company.

Thanks for all of the input! Decisions, decisions! One other one that I was looking at is this Casio - Amazon.com: Casio Men's Analog Reverse Bezel Sport Dive Watch #MDV301D-2AV: Watches
I know a lot of you have the G-force, and wondered how this compares. For the price maybe the Magico or Invicta would be a better buy? Thanks! |

Hi guys!
I am looking out for a watch and was thinking I might as well get a dive watch. I do have a dive computer already and will be wearing the watch more as a day to day watch, but having the ability to bring it down when I dive would be great too. I was under the impression that dive watches have depth gauges in them, as my friend's swatch dive watch had that function. However when I look around threads on this board, it dawned upon me that this function is not a standard on most watches. I'm interested in this watch: eBay.com.sg: Citizen PROMASTER Scuba automatic Dive Watch NY0045 (item 350254891193 end time Oct 20, 2009 14:28:03 SGT) Can anyone tell me more about dive watches and depth gauges? Which dive watch actually has this function??

The Citizen AquaLand series often (but not always) have a depth function (and in the case of electronic ones, an actual, but simple, dive computer). The Timex Helix (long discontinued but you can find them used sometimes) has a depth function as well. After that there is a smattering of oddball watches here and there that have depth, but not many. Dive Watches are primarily supposed to be used as timing devices, in conjunction with your tables and other gauges (the a standard analog depth gauge on your console). As I said, only a few have depth functions as well. |
