Princeton Tec Adventure Light Pack

This looks like a decent kit (especially for the money!). I plan on doing a night dive soon (padi adventure dive for my aow). This seems to be good enough for this. Any thoughts?

I don't know that pack, but I will tell you, I love my Princeton LED (shockwave) so much I will never have a non-LED primary light again. The light is very white, has no 'halo' - I love it.

So - for me, yes, the princeton is nice, but I recommend an LED primary light...

oh and incidentally - I don't know if they still have it, but ST carried the old model of the princeton shockwave LED for about 60.00 - it was the 2008 model 175 lumens, I love it...the new 2009 model (300 lumens?) cost ~100 I think.

It will do the job, but whether it's a good deal might depend on how much you use it. In that category of light LED is more desirable nowadays. No bulb to fail and much better battery life. I would say this pack is a way for them to move old (non-LED) Shockwaves out of inventory. In general you can find good deals nowadays on non-LED lights, and as mentioned also on older models of LED lights because they have improved the brightness on the newer ones. So it might be the right package for you, but I'd look around/think about it a bit more with those things in mind.

If you plan to travel, you might also consider the smaller 4 c-cell version of the Shockwave LED, more compact.

Light Package

Is this the package you are referring too?

Princeton Tec LED Light Pack reviews and discounts, Princeton Tec

Its the one I am actually picking up today before diving tomorrow. The Primary IS LED and the price is pretty good for the kit.

Are there better lights - yes but for starter kit and price pretty much can't go wrong.

I would make sure you get the new one. The newest Shockwave has 400 lumens. It is true the old ones are good deals for the money, but I would get the best one they have out right now. LED technology is getting better every day and the same light that had 170 lumens a couple years ago now has 400. That's really good and should not be passed up on. And it's only like $110 for 400 lumens and LED tech. The UK Light Cannon, that everyone loves, is HID and 450 Lumens. I had one and they are great lights. But technology has caught up with the Light Cannon IMO, now that you can get 400 lumens for half the price, and it's LED tech instead of HID.
That PT Shockwave 400 lumens for $110 is a great deal that cannot be passed up for older tech, and to beat those specs your talking HID or alot of $$$.

Yes, that's the one I was looking at. I think this is the one I will go with for now. I just want to make sure that I'm getting the best possible equipment that fits my budget. It seems this light pack will work out fine. Thanks everyone!
