How come few divers use hand-truck to move stuff?

I guess that depends on whether you can leave the equipment untended at the water's edge while you return the cart.

make it big enough that is would be hard to carry off, and put a chain through the wheels so they cant turn (and atach it to some thing bigger if you can)

No need to leave anything at water's edge, I'm saying even if I make one extra trip just to put the handtruck back in the car, and make another extra trip to retrieve the handtruck after the dive, I think it's still less trouble than moving all those gears by hand.

To each their own, i guess. For me, getting to the water changes all the time depending on where I dive. Sometimes it's beach entry in which case a standard dolly (wheels) just wont work. They are good in parking lots or piers to boats, etc. I try to travel light and carry it all on my back.

If you get one, they usually have two varieties. One is 150 lbs max the other is 250 lbs. pay the extra $10 and get the heavier duty one.
