hey comudude,
how tight should these things be? I guess that is a hard question to answer but I thought I'd try and see if I can get an idea.

I think I will listen to that as I'm starting to see that as the case. as for the barracuda. My OW dive instructor had told me no jewlery when you dive... baracuda are known to snap at rings and any shiny item thinking its an injured bait fish. that is why I mention it. I guess if its stainless you could always yse enamel paint or sanddown the shine.
I have dove with all different types of Barracuda from North Carolina to Indonesia....The single big ones in the Atlantic to schools from 50's to 100's to 1000's....and I have sometimes swam right in the middle of the school taking pics.....never had one try to take a nip of anything.....the most valuable lesson I learned with plastic was in Palau at the Blue Corner....I had the big plastic snaps holding my reef hook in about a 3-4 knot current....was not fun when they popped and I had to swim back to the group!....also when I was on a Zodiac in the Galapagos putting on your fins and the fin strap snaps!

Barracudas love my UK SL4 eLED. I just flash my dive on a passing big school and they come over and have a look. Sometimes I can get them to circle around me by using the dive light. Great for photos.

this is what I mean... I don't think that they want to bite anyone... at least not a person. But, I do think that it may be an instinctual reaction andmay snap at something bright. perhaps in low vis. Personally I think they are majestic creatures and I snorkeled withthem in cazumel... some realy big ones. They just hover there. a lesson to take for being absolutly neutrally boyant.

About the same "tightness" as you currently wear regular straps? I dunno how to describe it, but tight enough to be firmly on, but not so tight it stretches all the way out and is uncomfortable.
