Anyone have any experience with this?

I've been looking for a watch w/depth gauge and/or a backup computer for a reasonable price, and I came across this for 219.99. Does anyone have any knowledge of this item, or know someone who does?

ScubaToys carries the air version:

Aeris XR-1 Wrist Computer, Computers: Air, Aeris, Aeris XR-1 Wrist Computer

Im sure they could get the NX version too if you just give them a call

And they have it much cheaper too. Go figure, none of us would have thought that.

The picture that opens up from the first link is the NX which is the nitrox version and will be more. Aeris also makes the Xr1 for air which Nitrowill linked to.
I haven't dove the NX but I did have a XR1 and sold it. Wasn't a bad computer but I had moved up to nitrox and didn't need a third computer that was just air. I liked the lay out of the info.
BTW, same thing as the Oceanic computers. Made by the same company.

Disclaimer: I have never used this computer.

I am also looking for a backup depth and time device. What concerns me about this particular computer is that (from the specs) the XR-1 does not have a Guage Mode and I don't know how it handles omitted decompression, etc. Could be an issue if you dive Nitrox, the XR1 could go into decompression mode. If you don't make the deco stop, it might refuse to operate for your repetitive dives.

Perhaps someone who knows more about this computer could tell me whether I'm wide of the mark.

an option for a great little back up depth/time gauge is the Swatch Fun Scuba, My friend has had hers for 3 years, and dive warm water vacations 4 times per year, Ive had the watch for several months now .... several dives:
it works perfectly; water activated, matched the depth gauge on my atom 2, and keeps perfect time. You can buy them new right from the swatch website, or find older but NIB (new in box) watches WITH warranty for around 75 dollars.
