Question Regulator Swivel

I am trying to decide if purchasing a swivel for my regulator would increase my comfort level while diving, any recommendations?

I'd love to sell you one... but I'll tell you the truth... probably not. The swivels that are built into the hoses like the one on the oceanic delta IV are great. Oceanic Delta IV FDX-10 Regulator, Regulators, Oceanic, Oceanic Delta IV FDX-10 Regulator

But those add on ones are so heavy, that what they take away in hose position, they add in weight on the right side of your mouth.

So unless you have a very special need for one, like trying to run the hose under arm and up, I'd tell you that you'd be better off with just a new mouthpiece that holds better for you like the Seacure: Sea Cure Mouthpiece, Accessories: Miscellaneous, SeaCure, Sea Cure Mouthpiece

That's what I was afraid of, too much weight. I have a oceanic Alpha PX3 that I really like because it is light, so I would hate to add alot more weight to it, because sometimes by the end of the dive it will start feeling a little bit heavy.

I have them on both my Second stages and I've really liked them.

I use one on my pony bottle due to hose routing issues (pony on left side-hose crosses my chest from lower left to upper right). I like the comfort. But, it is another point of failure (O-ring in swivel, screw could work loose, etc.) I am planning on switching to a standard 90 degree fitting for my pony rig.

just make sure the one you purchase doesn't fall under the CPSC recall.

I also use a swivel on both my 2nd stages. I like them. But because I do, doesn't mean you will.

You could look at the Atomic Swivel (look at accessories) that's built onto their hose. It's like the hose that comes on the B2. It's kind of pricey, but it should do what you want without adding weight.

Even though Larry didn't mention it, they do carry them, but I couldn't find it on the ST website.

I have the Delta IV and the Sea Cure.... very comfortable combination!!!

i've wanted one of the titon ones for a while for the convenience and comfort but in the end it wasn't worth the safety issues for me. i haven't heard any bad things about the atomic ones but the titon ones are known for coming apart.
