I'm looking at the PT miniwave, but I was wondeing if other than burn time, are there any advantages to the Shockwave LED over the Miniwave LED?

I have a PT shockwave and I have a PT torrent as a backup. No complaints on either one.

Have a look at this thread

Primary light

I decided to get the Miniwave as it was smaller, not as heavy, but (apparantly) will give the same light just with less battery time.

I think I am getting the miniwave, despite my LDS trying to sell me the Shockwave LED, swearing that it produces more lumens than the miniwaveLED. Seems a lot easier to travel with also. Any problems using this with bulkier gloves?

On/off switch is a twist-button, the size looks like mine's on the C8, I don't think it'll be a problem with gloves on.

I just bought one of these 3 days ago... haven't had time to use it yet but did try it in the store with gloves on and didn't have a problem with the on and off switch.

I have the miniwave and I'm not too happy with it. The burn time is much shorter than advertised and It wont penetrate to where you can see more than a foot or 2 if theres any silt in the water

crap vis is crap vis.

For the price I don't think you can do much better.

The only difference between the PT Shockwave and the PT miniwave is one has twice the batteries. Outside of that, it's the same lumens, same watts, same LEDs, same lights... both turn on with that rocker switch, I have the PT Shockwave and have never had a problem turning it on or off in 5mm gloves.

I also have a PT Torrent as a back up... that's a powerfull little sucker too. It's a bit more difficult to turn on and off with 5mm gloves, but it's still easy.

I've done 3 night dives with my shockwave now and havn't had to change the batteries yet.
