I got my scooters and love them. I had one battery smoke the first time I charged it so a replacement is on the way. I got 70 minutes of high speed cruising. I think that if I keep it to the 2nd speed I can get close to the 2 hours as listed in manual. Even at 2nd speed you cruise pretty good. I learned that weight distribution become more critical because you don't kick much and will lean if not pretty balanced. Also use as little wt as possible. I was diving with a 7mm so I had some extra wt. I dropped 12 lbs on my belt and just used the integrated wts and noticed an increase in speed.

I can speak for the one below... My friend bought one and its extremely under powered. We were not using it for diving, but scooting around on the surface. He and I are larger framed (>6' and >230lbs).

okay, i'll take your word for it
. I read the spec sheets for all of them via the link. The tri-speed stage control is not a set speed but a transmission, correct? It will be a couple of months before i get it, so i'll just save up more. I have to get back in shape first. Also, is there a reason why they aren't any faster? Other than the obvious power constraints from the battery... |

I was hoping that it was a transmission :P. A simple Potentometer on the throttle would have been sufficient to give you car like control- imho, its just a marketing gimmick then. The 165ft depth is pretty nice though
![]() I got a set of cash for my birthday yesterday, and i did some reading and research. The Long Island Sound, which is closer to me than the Atlantic as i live on the North Shore, is pretty shallow at about 64ft deep average. Trinidad and Tobago waters are much deeper, but i'll rarely go there. I figure a 100ft DPV should be sufficient for 90% of my diving needs. I'm opening a thread on Scubaboards, but i have been searching and i found a few DPV's in my current budget X-155 Sea Scooter By X-Treme I like this one the best. Yes/No? I had no idea there was a DIY scooter...scratch everything , time to go to a drawing board!Last edited by GenesisFactor : 04-04-2008 at 03:28 AM. |
