Just keep coating stuff in it until you run out. Weights, tools, kid's toys...

At our local garbage transfer station, they do not charge for dropping off environmentally unsafe products. Motor oil, paint, other chemicals can be dropped off and they dispose of them in a safe manner.

I guess the environment thing is only an issue north of the border.....I mean I watch my neighbors dump whatever the hell they want in the arroyo behind our house (which of course washes directly into the ocean (approx 700 meters) No body cares here......I donīt know if its an educational thing, or a just lazy...I mean I canīt even recycle cans here...Weīre only 1000miles south of San Diego.......not only is it gross, its scary....

and everybody wonders why the marlin are decreasing in the sea of cortez.....

(however I tagged 3 stripeys in 3 hours this morning and lost two others....)
Wow that is too Bad.. Everyone should care about the enviro... I think many dive shops do a cleaning of dive sites.. You can take part. Dive and help the environment.. Good Stuff..

I have a question. I don't recall lead as being water soluble, (but then Chemistry class has been over for 35 years) so unless it is, how is it hurting anything? I am just curious.

Small/microscopic bits separate and are not soluble but held in suspension and can be ingested.

O.K., I see. The microscopic bits ingested by very small critters, who are in-turn ingested by larger and larger up the food chain. How much lead are we talking about on a grand scale? If I were to weigh a 4 pound weight after say 5 years, would I lose a gram, an ounce or? and then that times X amount of divers in a small area, could be significant, or not. Again, I am just curious as I had not heard this was an issue.
