You could probably make a small homemade pvc housing like some people do for video cameras. Put the Ipod in it with a small battery-powered, amplified speaker and it "may" transmit sound through the pvc to the immediate surroundings. I might just try this myself soon.

Seems to me you could use any rated enclosure that fit your ipod, then 'surgically implant' a set of headphones into it. You would have to make headphones part of the enclosure (sealing them in the hole you made to stick them through), but it would work. The main problem I see is finding a sealant that will stick to the plastic case well enough to hold a reliable seal.

Some people will dive to 200' plus. the go into decompression limits. Some might have 20 minutes of deco. They play uno or rock/paper/scissors. Some might have 1 hour or more. I think music would be great to listen to.
I think Jarrod with WKPP and a fellow diver just had 9 hours of deco. Talking about fun! NOT. |

I look at it as a "stupid" way to get better technology. As dumb as most of us think that taking the latest "Brittany" track to depth may be, the fact remains that if companies are making cases for these, then maybe they are attempting to develop a good solid case for something that you can run your deco software on, or even field guides what have you. One thing will help the other...
(although a night dive would be pretty cool with some Pink Floyd playing in the background!)
