Cool Underwater Ipod?

This really tops my list of "useless, expensive things that I really really want".

It is a waterproof case for and Ipod Nano, its "only" 79$ (+39$ headphones). Says it will go up to 10 ft. (great for boat cleaning?) it even has a wheel that will let you use the scroll wheel underwater. I don't know about you, but it seems a litte risky to put a 200-300$ Ipod in water, but hey, I'm not an expert. Heres the link:

Wow, I don´t know.....I have one of those UW speakers mounted on the transom of our boat that I play "ride of the valkyeries" into the water when we are trolling for marlin.....(not really but I think its a cool idea) Maybe if you just want music to scrub your hull, it would be cheaper to get an UW speaker.....more versatile too, for snorkeling or just playing in thw water...if you dive from your boat you could hook up a PA to the speaker and make sort of an underwater K-mart....."attention blue-light divers, please direct your attention to the pufferfish on aisle 17....etc" Just throwing stuff at you.....

I know a guy that trains for triathlons all the time with a waterproof ipod and uses it to swim with.

As popular as Ipods are I would bet that within a year somebody comes out with something a case or underwater unit that will go deeper than 10 feet. If you can make a case for your camera and video, why not an Ipod.

Mark my words.....

I have one of these Pelican i1010 Case from REI.com I tried it to 35 ft no leaks. I did try it the first time empty. I need some good head phones the ones I'm using belong to my metal detector.

Why would anyone want to bring music along on the dive? One of the best reasons to dive is to get away from all the influences of the surface world (except air, of course) and explore peacefully.

47 hours of working underwater, filling a expansion joint in the bottom of a swimming pool. The work was easy and the music made the time pass faster. On a rec dive the Ipod stays in the truck.

I understand the wanting to get away from everything. But, one of the quarry's I dive at has an underwater speaker system. If no classes are going on you can ask them to put on a cd. Beleive me, it is totally awesome to listen to some Pink Floyd on a night dive.
