Two things to consider: My first dive knife, I gave away after 30 years of diving with no noticeable corrosion (it was in fine shape, but the plastic case was falling apart, and it was, well, rather large) It was made from 316 stainless... and alloy no where near as good as Hydralloy is. It was with me on several thousand dives (mostly in the tropics). That is some very nasty stuff. It works , but is not something you would want to get on your skin, in the water, or on wetsuits. Just think what would happen if you decide to do the classic pinapple cut up between dives and kill half the people on the boat. How about just rinsing and drying... |

Rinse/wash it and sheath good after every dive. Let it dry good. Spray with Rem Oil...Sporting goods at Walmart... and let it sit so the lube flows everywhere. I usally walk away and let it sit for an hour or so. Wipe off the excess but leave a nice coat, and store until next dive. You do this like clock work you'll be surprised at the outcome.

If I may add, the Tang series of UK knives can be completely disassembled leaving only the metal blade exposed. After every "dive outing" (after which I won't be using it for a while), I disassemble the whole knife to expose the metal parts. I rince them completely and let dry thoroughly.
Oh, did I mention mine is Titanium??? ![]() That also helps...![]() ![]() if you rinse your steel knife properly and let dry thoroughly, it won't rust. Cheers! ![]() |

No harm in doing so, of course, but no benefit, either. I have enough gear to wash as it is, that's why I bought all the Titanium stuff in the first place. Since I bought it, it came out of the sheath once to cut some cave line. Other than that, it lives in it's sheath and gets rinsed as it it were a built-in part of my rig. Love that! |
