Ok, Regardless if you are using octo Inflator or not..(I do also, but my octo is my pony) If your inflator is locked open and you disconnect the inflator valve, most likely you will call the dive anyway, so unless your inflator sticks AND you have a primary free flow, it isnt an issue......Disconnect it, gain your bearings if needed, and communicate ascent, start ascent.....I personally would attempt re-attachment of hose to the inflator (to see if it is corrected) prior to ascent, but that is my personal choice.

Also, another issue with this product is the fact that it could get left in the closed position (or bumped into closed poition), and when you need to use it, it is closed. Its just like using check valves on things....They are nice, but generally more problems than the solution it intended to prevent.
