Blunt tip vs. Pointed tip.

Yes, I dive around lobster pots, so 1/2"-3/4" rope is everywhere, shears won't cut it, a knife will.

I had a great blunt tip knife but some how it got lost on dry land.....I now carry a small pointed belt knife/hd shears/and a small folding knife.

My nice titanium leg knife is a pointed tip because I would like to be able to use it for different tasks (hunting etc..), I am getting a small BC knife with a blunt tip and a shears.

I like blunt tip because i really only use my knife for emergencies so there's no reason for me to have a pointy tip to hunt or anything since I would probably just end up sticking myself

I once had to cut the chute off of a (sunken) super fuel drag boat. The chute lines were thick nylon straps (reinforced) that I couldn't get through with my knife, my shears cut right through them with ease.

so, the conclusion: pointed tip - useful; blunt tip - useful; shears - useful

get all three. mount/keep them 3 different places.
