Bio-Filter topic.....again
Hello All,
I have read through the searched topics of the Apollo Bio Filter, however I still have some unanswered questions that I am hopping someone might be able to help. I have been doing research on the Bio-Filter with the moisturizing wick as well as the newer unit that just filters air minus the moisturizing wick. The wife and I are planning a trip to FIJI this summer and I was looking at the available filters since we will be outside the greater US. She has asthma, I do not. My questions are as follows: 1) Has anyone with Asthma ever used one with the wick, and if so, how did it do with any possible effects on his/her asthma as far as triggers? 2) Anyone use the new filter that will just filter the air, and if so what are your thoughts. A $59.00 item vs $150.00 for the filter with the wick. 3) I have never dove outside the US and was wondering if anyone has had a bad fill in FIJI? breathing in misc. micro particle from inside a nasty air tank gives me a full body *&%$ quiver . Is this a legitimate concern or am I just over reacting with regards to the safety of my wife and myself? Thanks for the input.

Years ago, mid '70's, a company came out with a moisturizer called the SAM, i.e. Scuba Air Moisturizer. It did as advertised but was taken off the market after problems of freezing in cold water. I used one for almost 20 years before the reg that it was attached to was stolen by an airline. I have asthma and found it to be a great help. The air in a tank is dry and this will irritate your wife's asthma/bronchitis. The moisture will minimize this. That said, Sherwood regs tend to add just a bit of moisture back due to their design. Good luck.
