Zeagle 8029HD Pony Tank Mounting Bands

Has anyone tried these? I just bought a 19cf from ST, and was looking at these straps. Also thought they could be used (with two D-rings) to sling the bottle if desired.
I have seen the DIY method, but I am not crazy about the hose clamps...

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have two sets of them. They are great. They hold the tank extremely rigid and are super compact. I started my pony operation worried about removing the pony to change tanks between dives. I used the QuickDraw pony brackett for that, and that pony brackett is the easiest to use that way. It is super quik and easy and rigid. I changed to the Zeagle straps when reconfiguring a few years back. The Zeagle straps hold the tank closer to the main tank, by just a hair, and since I have a twin tank strap settup they are a little more rigid also. I also don't see the need to remove the pony to change tanks anymore. Either way works very well. I'll sell the Quickdraw for $75, if anyone wants it PM me. If you have a single strap BC the Quickdraw might be more rigid. It fits 13 and 19 tanks. If you have a two strap tank BC, I'd get the Zeagles.

Thanks for the info, Grin! I was also thinking about using the Zeagle straps in the sling method, by just placing the velcro around a D-ring and eye snap. Any thoughts on how this might work (in case I don't want the pony strapped to the main tank)?

I'll 2nd Grin's opinion. I have a set, and they work great. In fact I was really surprised just how rigid they keep the pony. However, if you intend to sling it, I'd just make a sling like others have done (Including myself). I think you'll end up with about the same about of expense for a sling vrs the zeagle mount.

Here are instructions.

Grin and BSea, what size bottles are you using with your straps?

I have a 13 that I use virtually all of the time. I also have a 6 which I trimmed a set of Zegle straps down for. I rarly use the 6 anymore. But when in shallow water I still might use it. The straps are made for 13s and 19s(same diameter). I think zeagle might make another model for the bigger tanks.

I have a 19, that's why I decided to sling it. Plus, I wanted to get used to the feel of a slung tank. I think the zeagle will work for a 30 too, but I'm not sure.

Can you please explain why you made these statements? I am a former user of SpareAir and have never slung anything. I am looking for any advise you may have. Thanks!

I'm starting to edge toward tec diving, and slung bottles are pretty much the norm. So it just makes sense to set up my gear to how I intend to dive. There's nothing wrong with using the zeagle pony straps. It's just that I don't use mine anymore.

I've weighed both Options (sling/straps) and am leaning towards the straps because I'll be using mine as my "buddy" while solo diving, so I won't have a need to pass it off, and having it strapped to my main tank seems more streamlined.
