Halcyon Knife

I was thinking of buying a titanium folding dive knife such as the Scubamax Titanium Folding Knife when the guys at my LDS showed me the Halcyon Knife. Does anyone have any experience with or opinion on this knife? I am new to diving and am thinking about getting a knife for a trip to Asia. Up to this point though I have never had a knife with me while diving as I have only been on Caribbean resort dives or checkout dives.

Thanks!

Get the fixed blade.

Fixed vs Folder dive knifes

If you must have a folder, check out the Spyderco Salt series. It's a better quality knife and the opening hole is large enough to be easily opened, even with gloves.

I have the Halcyon knife and I really like it. Having said that you could save a lot of money and get some emt shears. I carry both.

I have the Halcyon Knife and really like it no rust and stays sharp and then there is that beautiful H on the front of the sheath. but there are alot of titanium knifes out there for less also there are other options other than knifes like from OMS it Ti and not a knife. Keep in mind there are a increasing number of places that don't allow you to carry a knife only shears or line cutters.

I have the Halcyon knife. Great little knife. Excellent sheath. Completely care-free... you don't have to maintain it at all, since it's all Titanium. I love it.

Thanks for the advice. Is the OMS Compact Titanium Line Cutter something you could use without gloves?

Yup, although I do find the edges are a little sharp sometimes. Not a huge deal... admittedly, I rarely dive without gloves. Also a nice piece of kit... although I've never had to actually use it.

I have the halcyon knife as well. Pretty maintenance-free (I rinse it off at the end of dive trips) and it is free of rust after 100+ salt water dives.
