Nitrox practice questions?

I'm trying to finish up my nitrox cert finally, and was wondering if anyone has ever comeacross some practice tables & EAD questions?

I'd really like some extra questions to practice on, to strenghen my table skills.

Thanks!

Does the free Table Tutor software that ScubaToys cover Nitrox tables?

Otherwise, dives are dives... as far as PADI is concerned, the two tables (air and EAN32/36/etc) work identically, they just spit out different numbers.

There were several exam questions based on calculating your EAD and O2% saturation, very few questions relating directly to the EAN Tables, seemed they wanted you to use EAD and go by the regular air table more than anything.

Overall, wasn't that hard. I think I missed 2 questions.

My biggest concern is where you do dive 1 at one percentage, then dive 2 at a second percentage, and need to calculate you O2 exposure, pressure groups and the like. There's really only three questions in the book, one they give you the explanation, one is the section quiz (explanation included), and one is the section review (no answer provided). I've done them all, and think I have it down, but was hoping for some different ones to practice on.

edit - at work, so I can't download the table tutor.

The table tutor does have nitrox tables. But as you say, it's a table and table problems.

If you're trying to do some problems, which agency are you going through and do you have a set of nitrox tables of that agency?

If you do we can definitely set you up with some questions, just let us know.

Find out if your instructor is still teaching tables

PADI's 3rd quarter 2009 training bulletin announces a change in standards that allows instructors to teach dive planning by using a computer rather than the tables. The teaching of tables becomes optional, and many of us will continue to teach them, but perhaps not all, especially if students who own dive computers will be planning their dives without reference to the tables.

There has been extensive debate about the wisdom of teaching tables v not teaching tables, and to my mind this is not the place to bring this debate back to life. I am simply suggesting that the OP check with his instructor to find out whether the course will include dive planning with tables or with computers.

I am certing with PADI. I'm 99% sure my instructor will be teaching tables. Same instructor who did my open water, and he is very big on the tables. Something about not trusting batteries.

I do have the DSAT EAD tables, as well as 32% and 36%, and the RDP from PADI.

Well, without engaging in the debate, I do think it's good for first-timers to have table exposure. In some ways, I am concerned that for OW the RDP will be replaced by the eRDP, and chances are the new eRDP will also have nitrox. While there is a good case to simplify things for people in order to help prevent accidents, it is still perhaps good to know a bit about what's behind the scenes.

Having said that, yes, if you want some questions I'm sure we can come up with something.
