If you're even partially interested, take this class. I did it, and recommend it highly to anyone with an interest in moving up the scuba food chain to the professional levels. IMO, It's well worth the time and effort involved.

I very much want to, but alas, my sinus infection now has me finishing Rescue in October instead of this past weekend.

Sadness! I will have to be patient and wait for the next time it's offered.

Doh, I wish I would have seen this before you started the class. Guess I'll hit the next one.

Damn! I've been asking for this class since early summer. I never saw the anouncement either until today. Maybe next time...next year...

I have researched and considered various centers for DM training. All of them are out of the country. i.e. Utila Dive Center, Mermaids in Thailand, etc.
It would seem much easier to take whatever courses I wish to pursue locally, in Dallas at ST, for instance.
But, this leaves me with the question, where would we take our check out dives? I have only been on a couple quarry dives and that was a DUI demo rally. Arent the only places to dive in Dallas, quarries? And if so, arent those quarries like 45 F or so?
I am a warm water guy, anything below 68 and I need the ice cycles chipped off.

If I'm reading your questions correctly, it appears that you are thinking of DM training like BOW, AOW/ASD or Rescue, with a finite classroom and specific dives and you get a C-card. There's more to it than that--quite a bit, in fact.

Call ST and ask about the training plan for DM through them, or go to the NAUI web site NAUI Worldwide :: Information for Serious Divers for details.
