I could probably email this to you, but it wouldn't count as a post (although you might decide this doesn't either), but...

Which instructor is teaching the August AOW class and do I need to have the test complete prior to coming to class on Monday the 6th?

You'll enjoy the AOW class..lot's of fun and interesting things to do and learn as you further your dive training. Be sure to look into Rescue when you've finished your AOW and have a few more dives logged.

Yep, Rescue is on my list -- not sure if it is next or a Photography class is next. I need to update my CPR and First Aid training and become current again, which is really something I should do regardless of the rescue class.

Not sure if you meant taking the CPR/First Aid somewhere else, but it is offerred through ScubaToys. I believe it is $60, but you'd need to get confirmation on that from ScubaToys. I took mine last night and would love to tell you more but since this is a family site I can't. Lets just say I have some very interesting classmates this rescue session. David -- I didn't realize they offered CPR/First Aid. I had planned on going through either the Red Cross or the Plano Parks Department.

Are you heading to CSSP this weekend? I'd love to hear about your classmates.

EDIT: and this is my 10th post time to ask for my freebie.

Hah! I can guarantee that!

As Woody is learning I'm the lazy rescue student . I figure if no instructors or DM's get in the water I'll have an easier weekend, because I try to do what's easiest. For example in class I try to pick the easier, and lighter, instructor to rescue. I do my rescue swims (walks) in the shallow end and barely skirt the deep end of the pool so I can get back to my shallow water rescue swim (walk) quickly. Unfortunately Woody is on to me and after the BCD incident with him on the one rescue where I had to rescue him, I think he's going to get his revenge.

The BCD Incident....

Diving a back inflate I'm used to being able to fully inflate my BCD if necessary and not have it squeeze the living daylights out of me. Unfortunately Woody was using one of the rentals for this drill and well, apparently he had the BCD snugged up pretty tight and I forgot that aspect of a Jacket BC so I fully inflated and thought the groans were part of the drill. I didn't realize those groans were real until I undid the buckle and cumberbund, at which point the BCD flew open. So while I didn't kill any instructors or DM's during the class, I think I did hurt one (sorry Woody). So I'm expecting him to give it to me pretty good at the lake.

As for hearing about my classmates, I was told what's said in class stays in class. Trust me, it's better this way.

Excellent story (since I'm not Woody, as he might have a different opinion)
