Is PADI Adventures Manual required for AOWD?
Hi,
Is this a mandatory requirement to buy (to get) this manual when doing the PADI AOWD course? Or it could be borrowed from the instructor? I'm going to do the course in Mexico but do not have this manual, and probably, have no time to order one. Websites of some dive shops in Mexico say that this manual "should be purchased" prior to the course... TIA |

You've got to turn in the reviews, and they must be originals so that means you've got to buy the book. I don't know what Padi's AOW book is like because I did mine with NASE and mine was worth having.

It's good to have, I like it for the fact that it at least gives the basics of the specialties, before I brought my dry suit book home my dad had read in his adventures book about the basics and had at least some background knowledge.
And I believe it is required for DM/AI/OWI |

It is a good book with lots of info, way maore than what will be covered in AOW. Send the dive shop an e-mail or call them and find out if the reviews are going to be turned in. If they are requiring you to buy the book prior to arrival it is not like they are expecting to make any money off the book from you. Ask them if you could borrow one from someone else. We can speculate here all day, but it really comes down to what is expected of you by the dive shop that you will be taking the course through.

PADI requires students to have the materials and they require instructors to verify that knowledge reviews have been completed. They no longer require that KRs be turned in as they are good study aids when progressing to DM or instructor or just for later review. The course materials are usually included with the cost of the class, but any PADI shop probably has the book in stock. Try a local shop.
