Angry a different Oceanic USB Cable question

Oh I just got the cable yesterday for my Datamax Pro Plus 2. I had a very difficult time getting it to connect. I everytime I would connect the pro plus 2 my laptop would want to install oceanlog even though it was already installed. Then when I cancelled that about 15 times, I would get the instruction screen. I would click the button to start the sync process (since my computer is also new there are no dives on it). 99% of the time I got a "time out error". I did finally get it to work once. Is there a way to make sure you have the connector properly seated and make sure it stays seated? I think my problem is a poor connection. I can feel the PDC end of the cable moving all the time.

I've had a similar issue, unplugging it from the computer and replugging it fixed my issue...
