Velocity Duo Fin
So why am I not seeing any posts on the Aeris Velocity Duo Fin?
I'm looking for reviews for my wife. She's selecting them because of the color choices???? What the heck........ oh well, you see what's imortant here. For $100 I want to make sure she's getting a decent fin. She's pure recreational, none agressive diver. She also wants easy on/easy off. Considering either the Manta or OMS springs. Any suggestions? |

The Velocity Duo is a pretty nice split for below the $100 mark:
Aeris Velocity Duo Fin, Fins, Aeris, Aeris Velocity Duo Fin But if you can talk her into going with a basic black or yellow or white... the Apollo Bio Fin does perform better: Apollo Bio Fins Pro, Fins, Apollo, Apollo Bio Fins Pro And then in between in both price and performance would be either the Tusa Zoom: Tusa X-Pert Zoom Fins, Fins, Tusa, Tusa X-Pert Zoom Fins or the Mares Raptor (which is virtually exactly the same as the Tusa with different buckles - and a few different colors) : Mares Raptor Fin , Fins, Mares, Mares Raptor Fin If doing the bio fins, go with the springs attached from the factory - if doing the others, then your choice is doing the QR straps: Tilos Spring Straps With Quick Release Buckles, Fins, Tilos, Tilos Spring Straps With Quick Release Buckles or the straps without the plastic buckles: Tilos Spring Straps, Fins, Tilos, Tilos Spring Straps Now the thought is, really it's the buckles that break as much or more than the straps themselves - so going with the last choice might be preferred. There! Now you're more confused than before you posted! ![]() |

Hey-
I have the Velocity duo..love them...great fins, have the orginal straps...and find them strong, well built and easy on/off. Havent had the chance to play with the other splits that larry is recommending, but I DO love my Duos. And BTW...Fashion DOES matter! However, my idea of fashion was to buy the ones that come the closest in color to the yello SMB's...that way I can take one off, wave it in the air while i'm bobing at the surface...and it becomes a backup to my main SMB. |

Larry, I read the Tilos Spring Straps (w/o buckles) will cut/wear through the knobs on fns. Viewing the thin metal clips in the photo I can see how that would happen.
I appreciate all your advice, I think; wondering if this last wasn't bad advice? Leaning more toward the plastic clips from an engineering perspective to avoid potential damage from thin metal behaving like a knife against knobs. |
