Does anyone have any info on diving in Lake Tahoe? I have gone there a lot, but haven't had a chance to dive there.

It seems like it would be awesome because of the amazing visibility...

Although its pretty cold

Check out the dive shop(s) in South Lake for more info.

It's cold.

There are a number of dive sites. One abandoned resort area has some sunken boats. One wall has some fools gold embedded. Some interesting fish swimming around.

This is an altitude dive so bring altitude tables.

Dive safe. Have fun.

I only got to spend a weekend in the lake, so I'm sure others will know more.
I hooked up with a dive shop out in Carson City. (Forgot the name...) That's a cold, DEEP lake. Vis was great even in the middle of the summer.
Lots of smaller lakes in that area also, most of which are managed by the bureau of land management. Just drop in a dive flag and you're good to go.
Did I mention it was cold and deep?

I dive Lake Tahoe quite often as a staff member for Sierra Diving Center in Reno, NV. Great visibility, as much depth as you need, and cool h2o. While the air temps are warmer, wet suits are fine, but as air gets cold and the snow starts to fall, dry suits are definately more comfortable. I have had students in the water in Feb while snowing in a wet suit. Water temps were in the 30's, warmest times are in the mid 60's +.
