OK - here is a great opportunity for those of you considering taking the next step in underwater photography. I just lost my mind, and upgraded my entire system to a Canon 40D camera. Also decided to switch housing supplier from Ikelite to Sea and Sea (lighter and better ergonomics, but my bank account is smoking:smiley5:), so must put out the fire:smiley20: I have split up my system into pieces to target a wide set of users, but would love to find someone that wants a bargain on a great system.

Since camera's and housings depreciate faster than strobes, I have broken the package up. At the price point I have listed - the camera and housing is roughly the same price as a high end point and shoot (like a Canon G9) but this package has with a much better sensor, faster shutter, and optics.

Below are links to the system - If someone here is interested in an entire system (camera, housing, lens, ports, strobes) - I'll throw in 2 locline strobe arms (like the one on the left of the picture below, plus match Joe and Larry's 10% discount above the piece prices if you buy an entire system.

Wondering what strobes did you go with for the new set up?

Still undecided between the Sea and Sea 110's and the Inon 240's - but probably going to get the Sea and Sea's. They are going to offer a TTL converter for my camera - and I really like TTL for macro. Going to shoot both next week with the dealer in California where I bought my housing (a little side excursion on a business trip) - and go from there.

[quote=bversteegh;142956]OK - and upgraded my entire system to a Canon 40D camera.

I thought you might have come to the dark side and switched to Nikon :smiley36:.

FWIW, the Inon Z240's work well with the sea & sea iTTL convertor.

Congrats Bruce.......new toys are great!

Hey Dave - thanks for that little tidbit - that definitely is a key piece of info I didn't know. I should probably quit being a weanie and just shoot full time manual; but have always had TTL, so have never learned.

I considered the D300 for a couple weeks (have you got yours housed yet?), but just too many dollars all at once to change housings plus camera plus all my lenses. Only have a month until I leave for Indo again, so had to get off my duff and get everything on order.

I got a great deal on my 40D, found a kit from an authorized US dealer for 1199 including the 28-135 IS lens (which is a nice walk around lens - that will let me sell my 17-85, which wasn't quite long enough for a good topside lens) so my net cost after I sell the 17-85 should be around 800 dollars. That put me over the top on staying with Canon.

Here is an iTTL test that I did with my D200, Subal housing, Sea & Sea iTTL converter and dual Inon Z4240's:

iTTL Test (http://www.myunderwaterworld.com/iTTL.htm)

I haven't housed my D300 yet. I am waiting for Seatool & Subal to get their D300 housings out....then I will decide.

Thanks Dave. So is the Sea and Sea Converter Compatible with any strobe that can handle the Nikonos TTL protocol? Which means it would work with any of my Ikelite strobes - Do you have any Ike strobes handy you could test? Might not need to sell everything and start over.

No, I don't own (or have access to) Ike strobes.

I found out it won't work - DS125 has unique pinout/signal levels.
