Does anyone know where I can find a blue camo pattern wetsuit. I imagine they are used by underwater hunters and scientists for underwater marine research. Have searched the web and only found the Omer brand...are there others?

You want to "hide" underwater? Or you just like fashion? Not clear on why scientists would need camo wetsuits. I think hunters just like the fashion, since it compares visually to camo on land.

UW hiding is a pretty absurd concept unless you're on a CCR.

It definatly works for freediver hunters. I have a camo suit I use for scuba and I think it works a little in certian situations. I'd have to write book to explain those situations though. Better to look like seaweed than as seal in some situations also. And they are cool! I got mine from diveskin.net, custom sized and all, for under $200 delivered.

Hey it works. Freedivers will hide in kelp, gun held verticle until they see the fish they want. I'm not sure the color matters. Do fish see in color? But the pattern breaks up your outline.

OK think of it this way.... Why do fish have patterns? They have lines and spots to help them hide. Most marine amimals hide. Well the "tasty" ones try to hide. If it helps fish it helps hunders.

"Picasso" make a line of camo suits. It's a spanish company. The suits a re rather high end and pricy. Picasso America Freediving and Spearfishing Equipment Specialists 1-877-WETSUIT (1-877-938-7848) (http://www.picassoamerica.com)

So the "why" is UW hunting, which answers my question. ;)

Still doesn't get away from the little issue of breathing (fish tend to hear bubbles much better than relying on vision), but hey, whatever works. I still see more application for freedivers than scuba divers.

I understand some freedivers use different suits to help them blend against different backgrounds... one for the bottom, one for near surface, and one for midwater.

I want one for when I go out on my shark trip they are said to make you not look like a seal. Which when you are in the water with big sharks I think thats important.:smiley32:
