Well, had a community garage sale in my neighborhood today. Cleaned out the attic and some of the garage shelves.
But as you might guess, I bought something from someone else's garage. A very nice, 4'-6" carbon fiber skim board. Oh yeah. Never used one before, but they tell me it is like jumping on a moving block of ice sliding across a Zambonied ice rink. 15 yearold daughter has one.
Will report back soon.

Cool! Broken elbow? Hope NOT. No guts, no glory. Enjoy it. We used to use scraps of plywood and hit flooded fields here. Flooded to us was 2 to 4 inches of standing water.

Might I suggest a submission to Scubatube when you go try it out? :knegg: :D

Couple inches is what they do, but then they turn into the surf. Some of these kids can ride em back in like surf boards.

Thanks for your support.
As a kid, we used to use old wooden road signs.

Just looked at your profile. Nice board! I used to surf while in the Navy. I really enjoyed S. Ca., and Japan. Since getting out and moving back to Tn. I only get to surf once in a Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeee Moooooooon!
Especially since my surf boards were stolen. Go figure, like the hillbillies here had a need. (I mean no disrespect, as I consider myself a hillbilly)

The board in my profile pic is actually my daughter's. I ride the matching big brother, 9'-6".
I had her's shaped with the 3 stringers, then I did mine with 3 stringers to match. Shaper's name is Chris Birch.
Some things keep it close to the soul. Bikes, ( I have had 4 HD's), flying, sky diving, scuba and surfing.
Even though I suck at surfing, something special about catching a sunrise session. I might sit on my board for hours watching the world wake up and maybe catch a ride or two into the beach before breakfast. Then go home cut the grass, start thinking about work... never mind

I told my wife I want to adopt this dude for a brother. She's okay with that.

BTW, who got planted in the photo?

People tell me I will. Stay tuned.
My kid and her friends consider me one of the cooler dad's. This however they tell me not to do.
If I don't dive tomorrow, I am gonna try at sunrise, when it is not so crowded.

I hear ya! While stationed at North Island in San Diego, I worked the graveyard shift. I was on the beach almost every available morning for the glass and a.m. swells. :smiley20:

We used to make skim boards outta scrap plywood when I was a kid. Smoothed down the edges and top surface, waxed `em up just like you would a real surfboard. We'd take `em with us out to Dam Neck Naval training center in Virginia Beach, VA. and ride the shoreline all day. Had many a "bump" & 'scrape" riding those things, but never a broken elbow. Ah, the "good ol' days !!!

Well, I blew off my dive this morning. Too much to do around the house.

I also found a couple little dings on the rails of the board that might let water in. I have surfboard repair kits for epoxy or resin. Any idea which I would use with carbon fiber?

BTW, I found the board listed on a web site for $425.00. I don't feel so bad about paying $50.00!

so no one will see you hurt yourself. very god strategy, then when someone says "hey, what happened to your arm" you can make up something having to do with power tools and cars.

You betcha Bro! :)

(Have a buddy in the Keys who lost 2 fingers to a chop saw. A lot of visitors want to believe the fingers were taken by a marine animal. He usually has a little fun with them before the actual story comes out.)

Nice! I've always wanted to try riding on of those things but I don't know anyone who owns one and never had anyone interested in going with me (If I bought one).

I used to always see the teens doing this back when I was a kid.. but now that I'm old enough to ask those boys if I could try it out.. noone seems to skimboard anymore.

Couldn't have said it better myself Splitlip. There were days on the N. Shore when it was TOOOO BIG, I'd just paddle out to feel the monsters roll under me. Quite a rush!
