100 things you've witnessed that are NOT cool for divers to do?

above and below the surface

1. Sitting on a coral formation for a cheesy photo to show your
friends at home.:smiley29:

"witnessed" as in... with our own eyes or in a video?

omg- so many
during my advanced open water dives a guy just completely abandoned his buddy in a low visibility quarry during underwater navigation

while on vaca in January I saw a lady go in with no exposure suit and 20 lbs of weight, and she kept banging into the coral

also on vaca- this guy kept swimming over top of me and flipping me in the face with his fins= after about the third time I turned around to my hubby-buddy, sat in the sand, crossed my arms and went HMPH!:smiley19:

well I witnessed some divers doin alot of things they probably shouldn't have been doing, or rather what one might consider as "uncool"

but that had nothing to do with their diving skills or reputation :smiley26:

aaargggg! !!!!! this isn't that complicated:smilie39::smilie39:

4. dropping gear bag on a fully loaded(with cameras) camera table on
dive boat.
5. diver getting loaded rum punch party night, and proceeds to crash into a
waiter, with a fully loaded tray of the punch... waste of good punch:smiley19:
6. diver gets mad at a donkey nip, and punches it:smiley21:
7. diver grabbing a turtle and holding it for yet another photo (they're
air breathing, remember):smiley5:

nah, when your head is empty all the nitrogen gathers there instead of in your joints.

10. A diver who proudly exclaims that he doesn't need a computer or tables as he "knows" when he is nearing his NDLs. (expert with less than 20 dives-the rest of us are scarred woosies.) Funny, never heard from him after that-seems he may have taken solo diving as no one wanted to buddy with him.

While diving in Florida last month there was one diver that decided to "wander" off from his dive buddy and do his own thing, (there was a pretty good current along with a strong "surge" and @ 20 vis.). We did a quick search, surfaced, notified the boat crew then descended for another look. He found us about 5 minutes later. Needless to say, the dive master and the boat crew were'nt amused at his "solo" performance. After returning to the boat his explaination was "I knew where I was at". The divemaster countered with "Your dive buddy did'nt" and on this boat you "stick with your buddy" !! It was the last dive of the day and he was scheduled to dive with them the next day but i don't know if he did or not as that was the last dive of the week for my wife and I.

How about a diver I know that had a fin come loose and dove down to over 200 feet (sea water) to get it...while diving 32%. I guess you have to have a brain to get an O2 hit.

Is this "lucky" #13 ?

While on vacation, I saw a guy climb into a large barrel sponge (I think that is the name), hold onto the rim, and wave to me, to take his picture. I did not take his picture, and my (insta-)buddy almost smacked the fool.
Back on the boat, his own buddy apologized for the fools conduct, saying "he doesn't always act like that."

14. during a dive we had a couple of spearfisherman, the water temp was 65 degrees and they were wearing shirt and shorts, while most of us were in 5 or 7 mls. the worst part os they went down first. i followed 5 minutes later and was nearly speared coming down the anchor line!!! his excuse, the vis was bad. needless to say he didn't get his spear back from me till after the trip
