View Full Version : Layering Shorty & Longy, what's the order?

Heading to Bonaire in a couple of weeks. I have a .5m (Henderson Microprene) suit that is usually enough in Cozumel but I got a 3m shorty to layer just in case.

Should the shorty go under the full, or vice versa, or does it matter?

I'd go with which ever way gets you the best neck seal. If the shortie is front zip, it will probably have the weakest neck seal and should go on first.

I go long under short. Given the suits you mention, that's what I would do in your case too (thin suit under).

i always go the shorty ( as a core warmer) and than layer the full suit over the shorty. that way when you get out of the water you can unzip the full and still have the core on.

Water flushes into a suit from the edges, the neck, arms and legs. If you put the long suit over the thin one you will have fewer edges exposed.
