Anybody know of a website that gives a fairly accurate and current water temp? Or maybe if someone has just returned from Coz might be able to chime in. We are going to be there in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

Well I just found the NOAA buoy website.

Thanks anyway

We were there at the end of March and it was 79 every day, every dive site we did.

ditto...79-80 degrees, and that was in Feb, by late april, early may i'd expect one more degree warmer, at least.

Just returned today 4-13-08. 82 degrees was what we had. Used a 1mm skin and was fine at 100'. Lots of drift diving. The only thing negative was the cattle boats to and from the sites. I am sure we were over loaded more than once.

I was in Cozumel first week of March. It was 85-90 surface temp, about 79-80 in the water. I rented a shorty and I was perfectly fine.

We just got back last night. Water was about 81 degrees. The sea lice were just starting up, so it wasn't very bad. The currents were a little strong, but all in all it was a good trip.

Scuba Gear and Scuba Diving Equipment - Discount dive gear (Cheap online!) (http://obrules15) - where did you stay at? I looks like we were down there at the same time. Our group stayed at Casa Del Mar, not a bad Hotel.

Wow...I'm envious. We have another month before we leave for Cozumel. I can't say I've experienced Sea lice....can you elaborate?

The poster may have been referring to the larvae of thimble jellyfish. Here's a good article on the sea lice/jellyfish larvae thing:
DAN Divers Alert Network : Debunking the Sea Lice Myth (http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/medical/articles/article.asp?articleid=55)

It's a good idea to cover up. Think wetsuit beanies look stupid? You'll want one when - as you surface - you look up and see 100's of tiny jellyfish at the surface waiting to embrace you.

Don't be discouraged. Just be prepared. You'll have a great time.

If you see 100s of jelly fish, use might want to use you octopus to blow giant bubbles to clear the sea lice and then get on the boat, ASAP. I use a shortie, but I also have lyca just in case.

We had 82 degrees at depth on all dives. Current was strong on our actual drift dives but the rest was sweet...first set of ocean dives.

Water temp stays pretty close the same year around ...+/- few degrees.
